Strictly Come Dancing 2013, Week 9
Week 9 of the comeptition begins with the final looming nearer. Time to get stronger and better. No place for error without reprimand now.
Beginning the evening is,
Susanna and Kevin
Hound Dog – Smokey Joe’s Cafe
Susanna gave a good performance with leggy moments and a little sass, but is it enough for anyone to go out of their way to save her. It seems as though Reid is reaching her peak as she consistently enters a score of 7s -8s every week now from early stages of dazzling performance. Needs more gusto. Give a bit of oomph, style and swift sass. Decent but standard.
The Judges are back to give their comments with Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli with our professional score in brackets.
Len – We’re getting down to the nitty gritty. Standard is high. Things overlooked in past, we’ll be picking up on. That’s what I’m looking for. Liked timing, mix of steps. Problem was leg action. Acceptable, gotta be much crisper.
Bruno – Your performances fly off the shelf like mince pies at Christmas. Wasn’t as pronounced as it could have been. Really get these hips going.
Craig – Really liked vampy beginning. Did not pop, sing, need to think about hyper extending your body. Little bit mumsy, darling.
Darcey – Just that technique. Difficult dance, just wasn’t yours tonight.
Wow SCD starting to be as professional as us? Shock. Susanna was decent but too safe.

Ashley and Ola
I will always love you
Strong start with romance in sway. Bit too daft staring as moving into eyes by Ashley over animated. Neck and face too stiff and focus on westerly air point. Decent music kick in spin, with good spin of Ola. Feet placed well. Arm average on spin, bit higher, maybe. Ends romatically well.
Bruno – You glided through it with incredible poise. Elegant.
Craig – Coped well with cross braising. Expressions very good. Your head driving me abso mad. Inclining to the right. Got to sort that out.
Darcey – So slick. You glided effortlessly. Craig’s right, when you tense up on turn, you do little tilt. Just relax.
Len – Like your initials, Attention To Detail. I thought you did a terrific dance. Head things little thing you gotta work on a tad.

Natalie and Artem
Where Have You Been – Rihanna
Good setting scene. Bit long getting into hold. Kept momentum of dance tension. Consistent attack in head turns. Keeping up with Artem well. Strong style and charisma. Sharp focus. Musicality could have been little better for contemporary Tango. Still very workable. Great leg through end.
Craig – Going to be really picky. Left hand facing up. Missed drama.
Darcey – Over exaggerate and push away further in top line. Only thing, would be perfection.
Len – You look like my favourite quality street. Lowered your head a little bit. Fabulous, well done.
Bruno – You set off like the Tango express. Fabulous!

Mark and Iveta
It’s a Beautiful Day – Michael Buble
Good elegant start and style. Bit timid on spot. Needs more movement. Slowly walking back and forth. Good dip of Iveta bit lacking punch. Good pirouette from Iveta. Graceful pink flamingo with Mark a joy, but just very tame.
Dracey – Charming. Top line has improved. Would have liked to see more flow and travel.
Len – You’ve been trained but never tamed. Cheeky moments I like. Like a Dalek. You moved but no swing. Always fun to watch.
Bruno – Rise and shine. Bringing sun on Strictly. Kind of stopped a little bit in hold. Jolly and pleasant.
Craig – Missing -flow, movement, swing, sway. Too much side by side.

Sophie and Brendan
Will You Love Me Tomorrow – Amy Winehouse
Watch out, Brendan doing a Rumba. Now he wants romance? He’s famed for Raunchy Rumbas, and sneaky lifts…
Shiver wen touched by stalking Brendan from behind. Cringeworthy Brendan whisks into hold spin around with tame and slow steps forward. Sophie spins into Brendan on spot again. Again outward and back. Legs off ground on toe spin technically a lift despite effort. Sophe spins around side to side again and again and again. Plain, empty and weak.
Len – tircky dance. Lacked little bit of flair.
Bruno – Totally agree. So pretty. I like my Rumba a bit raunchier.
Brendan – People think Rumba is about sex… It’s about a beautiful story.
Craig – Did like double spin. Found it a bit cold. Odd moments when you smile come away. In and Out.
Brendan moans as Sophie accepts critque.
Darcey – Missed sensuality. Looked a little shy.
Brendan moans again. I don’t want filthy, dirty Rumba’s master politician of Strictly Brendan adds. The man famed for making it raunchy to begin with.

It was lacking with judges and yet overmarking succeeds.
It was a proper performance and that was a Rumba performance! Brendan do us all a favour and shut yer trap! Accept critique when it doesn’t work. Only reason you stay is because of your gracious celeb partners.
It’s “Big Ben time” Brucie utters once more. Ben is dressed in braces and already flexed his muscles at the start of the show for the gay and girls vote. Will the shame ever end?
Ben and Kristina
No Diggity – Blackstreet
Flexing muscles, Ben lifts weights as Kristina hops along and Ben robotically moves his arms with one step across to her. Lifts her weirdly. Horrid feet problems in steps. Lacking huge momentum and dull as dishwater. Almost drops Kristina on lift. Pushes Kristina along on splits floor after standing on spot. Moves muscles a bit more. Ends trampled on by Rihanoff.
The strongest man on earth! Has to be extremely sharp and tight. Could be little bit sharper. Guy of your size is wonderful what you do.
Craig – Wasn’t most electrifying. My heart bleeds for you darling. Lack any freedom of movement. This is what its about, quirkiness.
Darcey – Looked careful on you. Attack into those lifts was brilliant.
Len – Right on time. Swivel and lifts great. Needed bit more zuzz going on.
Tess – Come on Ben, show us your guns!
(Poster boy Ben flexes as the caricature he is.)

Abbey and Aljaz
You Got The Love – Florence and The Machine
Good start with Aljaz mirrored behind. Commanding role from Aljaz as Abbey supports well. Good dip down in corner. Strong, fast arm through followed by up point spin sharply. Circling Aljaz teasing with skirt waft. Good arm/elbow fight. Great contemporary Paso where sound of pin could be heard. Engaging, commanding but little stagnate in parts.
Craig – Thought your free arm was little loose. Little bit cutsey, loved the dance.
Darcey – Very difficult Paso. Would’ve liked stronger woman. Nice shapes. Wanted to see something different. More dramatic.
Len – On occasion you just lost a bit of control. Enjoyed dance., would like to see a little bit cleaner.
Bruno – Some things you did for a non dancer, really working incredibly hard. Cos of a few slips you put yourself down.
8, 8, 8, 8 (8)
Patrick and Anya
A New Day Has Come – Celine Dion
Windswept Anya quickly caught by Patrick in flurry of smooth, slow and tender spins. Very good connection. Leading Anya incredibly well. Great extend and pull into hold of Garnis by Patrick. Tidy feet. Stylistic poise in spin and dips of Anya. Taking strong attention to keeping feet on ground when pulled by Patrick. First class.
Darcey – I expect so much now. Pull it out next time please.
Len – Good movement, bad standing spins. Didn’t like ending thing. Ugly. Rushed. Not best but not worst.
Bruno – Shaming at end you crash landed. Such a shame. Messed up whole effect. wasn’t in dream anymore.
Craig – Never disappoint rhythmically. Unfortunately feet came off the floor and that became a lift, sadly.
Feet didn’t come off the floor as Anya is confused of. Ola and Iveta agree she had feet grounded.
