Scotland’s future. Can it be gambled away on

a whim over disengaged politics?

The upcoming Scottish Independence referendum is an interesting piece of research as it is political uprising.

Younger voters are most likely to select Yes in favour of an Independent nation whilst elder voters opt towards a No unity to remain as one with the United Kingdom. In the UK, however, this is the opposite with young and elder voters. Yes means to go it alone independently and leave the UK. No however is to remain as part of a sovereign state with the UK. Both have negative outcomes either way. Whilst the majority of Scotland are being convinced Yes will be leading to a new era of Scottish spoils as the No vote is the same old nothingness, voters are as much confused as frustrated.

So there are two choices. abandon the UK or abandon Scotland.

Though this does not suggest an improved, clever or structural unity, pulling Scotland away decreases any influence it hopes to have in any effective debate with any nation of the world. Initiated by nationalist pride and smear slingers Alex Salmond and First Minister Nicola Sturdgeon, the Yes voters fail to acknowledge the problem on the horizon. Whose Scotland will this be, say a Yes vote is returned? No, it wont be the ruggish, thugish and loudly cheering mob mentality of Scots. Understand how it works, because the politicians will put you in place as soon as they get their grip on you. This Scotland belongs to Salmond and his eventual successor Sturdgeon. It will never be ‘your’ Scotland.

Framed with seemingly clever national fever and using the politics of Westminster to scaremonger voters desperately calling for change shant benefit the country as a whole. Over the last four years, the UK has been obliterated by the evil politics of David Cameron. He’ll be voted out in 2015, anyway. Personal policies and PR strategising for a totalitarian England has encouraged Scots to do something about it, because politicians down south can be excused of crimes and immoral acts, including recent fraudulent money grabber Maria Miller. Disengaged politically and nationally, Scotland however have misunderstood what is largely at stake. This is a one time deal. Once Salmond gets his hands on Scotland, he will do a David Cameron and penalise the poor, boost the rich corporations (which were also uncovered as corrupt by journalists including the BBC) and carefully craft Scotland for his own personal ego. Salmond wants the opportunity to put his name to being some kind of leader of Scotland for the history books. With no outlook or rationale for a future, Salmond proposes such idea on an empty whim. Full of empty answers and no definitive answer, Salmond avoids every question put to him for potential rainy days in Indy Scotland. So picture the scene. Tomorrow I feel like putting a swimming pool on an aircraft. Next week I want to give out £5 Scottish notes to everyone for free. Over coming months I shall attempt to build a zoo with at least one rare animal of each species in the world. Dream on. This lunacy makes a laughing stock of Scotland, something it has never been seen as before and has always been highly respected by the UK. Now, with Salmond’s attempt at smears, has turned that opinion around to make out the UK are neglectful. Because Salmond has failed to stand up as a politician IN Westminster and never adopt a policy as a strong MP to rivals opinions, which is his job, he wants to run with his tail between his legs and set up his own offshore account. As previous Scots have confided in me, who remain anonymous due to abusive backlashes, claim that Scotland is foolish to go independent for a few reasons more than any others. They include that “all Scotland has is Balmoral and that’s The Queen’s home.” Others include being called “Scotchland” with a negative drinking culture and also sufferers of domestic violence.

This has led me to now share a public and private story to explain to defiant or angry Scots who want to simply argue against for invalid reason than listen to a sensible debate on both sides to lead to an informed choice at the ballot box. This is a real story involving a dear best friend. For years this mother was suffering domestic abuse and violence on a regular, mostly daily basis. Her alcoholic husband continued to physically assault her everyday. She was accused of sleeping around, only after her husband’s money and verbally valued as worthless. Her only comfort was going online to chat and play communal games in a community with friends for a few hours. She was also abused for using the computer away from him, based in their kitchen. Using the internet for good, eventually after a few years she finally met someone who valued her. When the time came he managed to help her escape to his home south in the UK. They had a loving relationship classed as soul mates. Sadly, over a few months she suddenly died while on holiday with him. She died of Heart Failure. The point of this is to also highlight that leaving the UK means there is no chance of escapism, or even finding someone you care for or to live a fulfilled life with should a Yes vote arrive. Where else would you go?

Leaving the UK means you cannot have it both ways. If you leave then you are ‘on your own’ effectively. After years of guidance and support as party of the homeland country respected, you cannot assume you can have all the fruits of the labour. Leaving the UK is a snub and with it comes consequences. Financially, economically, politically and social issues are key area’s which will change. This is not being nasty, it is a general way of daily routine. You don’t pay (in theory) for other countries you do not live in. Already planning to charge English students attending Scottish Universities yet free for Scots and migrants, Scotland cannot possibly think that tit wont come without tat.

Whilst political and royal interests may be at large for affecting Scotland’s way forward, the UK as well as FalseFabs like and get along with Scots. This, however is not going to keep keen interests with bullish Yes voters assaulting others for a debatable opinion in a democratic society. Such vigilance also does Scotland a huge disservice in public perception making lines ever more blurred with communities. After feeling many hands were given to Scotland as equal and loved citizens no one can blame some Englanders for suggesting they “can go if they wish to run away”. Who wants a Scotland independently shining as a state with egg throwing aggressors capable of stronger violence on its streets when once regarded as a fairly stable society?

Even should a Yes vote be returned, Scotland will have a negative opinion and offer no clarity when it attempts to intervene in diplomatic or political means. This alone will show up the nation and the world will only use Scotland as a bargaining tool to show off to other countries whilst ripping the country off with high investment returns to foreign investment deals. All the while, there will be no return for Scotland. Unsure or Yes voters not entirely convinced can vote No. What’s the worst that can happen? A Yes decision now isolates Scotland forever. A No vote means for now you can stay united, but eventually a debate can be called once more later down the line for a referendum if required. As we have always learnt from political decisions with clouded information to a vote where hasty choices rushed into never make for a good outcome.

Scotland’s reputation will be seen as childish, petty and unimportant. This will isolate and close many more doors than opening them. Shutting yourself off and running away is never a good option for any country. Once isolated, you are also at risk of many other problems. With political you have no influence and are viewed as a spare when required. In society you shall become even poorer and the politicians will have ‘no choice’ but to raise taxes, costing you even more. In economic terms, and with a projection that in 20 years or less one third of the workforce are to be replaced by robots, means you may have no job and rely on state handouts, even if the welfare state is destroyed, continuing levels of poverty for generations. As a worldly affair, you are inconsistent and not a key player in any aspect. By trying to ‘get a voice’ you will be losing it instead. Does that really suggest the confusing notion of Independence or mild manipulation to an aspired, yet empty illusion for Government power to control? The only way to have a voice and be heard is to be involved in the community as a part of it.

You are free to vote however you like, but many are asking for a rational choice, not a quickly spun jump up and down moment that disrupts a lifetime. We would hope that Scotland remains with the UK. No matter how hard society gets, it is then up to politicians to act on your interests. When they fail it is up to society to take control. However, it should and can never be controlled by public anarchy, as no influence will be attained. Favouring a No vote makes Scotland keep its voice. It’s then up to Scotland to better interact in matters that change society for the better as a communal audience. To gain a voice you must fight diplomatically as a union than outside. As a nation state, no one is ever listened to when they become an outsider.

Scotland, which in 2013 applied to be a contestant at the Eurovision Song Contest, were rejected because they were a part of the UK. Some say this is another reason and final straw for going it alone. Is it that infeasible to gamble a country away because it couldn’t wait to hear Europe say ‘nul points’ to Lulu, Bonnie Tyler or The Thompson Twins?

No matter how keen to dismantle the state, we cannot simply get out a pneumatic drill and piece apart the Scottish part of the UK border and then drift it out to sea to float on its lonesome. This puts into perspective this entire vote.

It is also interesting to note that while Scottish leaders called for this vote, either a Yes or No doesn’t count as legitimate. In order to hold the referendum, even if they are of Scottish nationality, needs to be passed by all UK politicians in Westminster to allow a referendum which only Scottish citizens can then vote for. This means the vote is not even legitimate and on some level possibly illegal.

Scottish Yes campaigner and politician Jim Murphy was unnecessarily pelted with eggs from hard-boiled Yes voters, unprovoked at a speech. Earlier in the year, Celebrities, Musicians and Authors were verbally abused for having a No opinion on Scotland’s future. Most notable cases included Harry Potter Novelist J.K. Rowling, who is Scottish, hounded by trolls on Twitter over the matter. Sir Alex Ferguson, John Barrowman, Susan Boyle, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Sean Connery, Mike Myers, Emma Thompson, David Bowie, Andy Murray and Annie Lennox are just some of many names agreeable to upholding a United Kingdom from Scottish citizens than breaking away instead.
